Audi S7 Sportback what you need to know

The Audi S7 Sportback is Audi’s latest car which offers a fully connected motoring experience. The Audi S7 Sportback’s close rival is like the Mercedes CLS 500.

The S badges, the red ring on the start-stop button, the S7 logo in the illuminated door sill trims, the aluminium strip on the S tronic selector lever and the aluminium shift paddles. The footrest and the pedals are made of stainless steel, and the soft keys of the MMI operating system are in an aluminium-look finish.

Audi equips the S7 Sportback with height-adjustable S sport seats with power lumbar supports as standard. Comfort seats and regular seats are available as options. The backrests of the S sport seats are embossed with S logos.

The car has a SIM card slot for full WiFi connectivity, sat nav which is powered by Google Maps and the option heads-up display, which is similar to the one found in the Audi A7 Sportback and the Audi A6.

The main Bluetooth enabled multimedia unit - the MMI (Multimedia Interface) Navigation. The MMI Navigation Plus, boasting with an 8-inch screen, two processors, two card readers, a DVD drive, and 60GB hard drive for storing music and contacts all of which can be can be controlled by voice.

With an Nvidia graphics processor which provides the power to create hi-res 3D maps from satellite and Google Earth images, bringing routes to life, modelling points of interest and adding detail to cityscapes using Google Street View.

Other features of the MMI includes the touch touchpad which lets you use your finger to write the letters of destination or digits for number you wish to call, also it has the new Audi Online Traffic Information system providing TomTom-grade sat-nav.

The Audi system uses mobile network data to spot high densities of handsets in one area and combines that with traffic information sources to provide real-time updates that help you see where the traffic jams are and find alternative routes. The good thing about navigation system is the fact that the system can tell you a possible feature, analysis route data to predict the conditions you are about to encounter on your journey.

With the car's WiFi hotspot you will be able to stream music from apps like Spotify via Bluetooth. Furthermore there is Noise cancellation system that works just like the noise-cancelling headphones.

The Perfomance

The engine is a 4.0-liter TFSI twin turbo V8 engine that produces an output of 420 horsepower, and 406 lb/ft of torque and does 0-62 mph in just 4.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h (155 m/ph). This will give you 24.5 miles per gallon.

The cultivated eight-cylinder, which uses Audi's "cylinder on demand" technology under part load, consumes on average just 9.7 litres of fuel per 100 km (24.5 miles per gallon).

The new S7 Sportback’s powertrain can also be found on the new S6, as well as the new Bentley Continental line-up.



The top-end CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY is more around the S7 Sportback’s wheelhouse, courtesy of its 408-horsepower V8 engine. Top speed only hits 130 mph compared to the electronically limited 155 mph top speed of the S7 Sportback.

The Audi S7 Sportback carries an adaptive air suspension sport whereas braking comes in the form of large internally ventilated brake discs on both the front and rear of the car.
